Despite record sales the last three years, as a brand, Acura has largely struggled to find the momentum and brand recognition of its rivals. Crossover SUVs have been the brand’s saving grace, though, and this all-new 2019 RDX looks poised to kick things into another gear for Honda’s luxury division.

The 2019 Acura RDX Prototype shows off style, performance, and technology
A new era is dawning with the new year for Acura. On January 15, the automaker debuted the 2019 Acura RDX Prototype at the 2018 North American International Auto Show, and the vehicle represents the most extensive redesign from the carmaker in more than 10 years.

Honda fans know that when the automaker calls something a prototype, that means it’s basically a thinly veiled production car that’s going to be available soon. That seems to be the case here from Honda’s Acura luxury division, whose 2019 RDX Prototype at the 2018 North American International Auto Show in Detroit signals a full overhaul of the brand’s two-row SUV is soon to come.

Acura put a major redesign on its RDX crossover for the Detroit auto show. The 2019 Acura RDX, “presaged by this RDX Prototype,” was designed and developed in the U.S. and will be manufactured here as well. And it’s the first Acura SUV that will receive the tarted-up A-Spec treatment, which will include more sporty cues inside and out.
